Twins with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) can show significant phenotypic differences despite identical genetics, highlighting non-genetic factors. Zeng et al from China reviewed that twin studies provide insights into the genetic and environmental aspects of HCM, guiding personalized medicine.

Viral myocarditis (VMC) is a common cardiovascular disease, and circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been identified to play an important role in the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease. However, the clinical significance, biological functions, and regulatory mechanisms of circRNAs in VMC remain poorly understood. Therefore, Liang et al from China explored the biological functions and regulatory mechanisms of circ-ACSL1 in VMC.

Alprostadil is a typical natural prostaglandin drug, the main component of which is prostaglandin E1. Alprostadil is widely used in the clinic for its vasodilatory effect of dilating blood vessels and its antiplatelet effect of inhibiting platelet aggregation. Yin and Wan from China investigated the clinical efficacy of Alprostadil in diabetes mellitus combined with peripheral atherosclerosis and the molecular mechanisms.

Blood flow restriction (BFR) training could induce endurance adaptations with low-intensity training, its impact on myocardial markers is still unclear compared to without BFR. Consequently, the influence of lowintensity interval exercise with and without BFR and high-intensity interval exercise (HIIE) on cardiac troponin was determined by Zhou et al from China in this study.

Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) remains the common complication after cardiac surgery. The ability to accurately identify patients at risk through previous risk scores is limited. Öncel et al from Türkiye aimed to evaluate new HARMS2-AF risk score to predict POAF after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. They concluded that this risk score can be used as a novel stratification tool to estimate AF after cardiac surgery.
